What should I wear?
Any comfortable sports clothes are fine, but nothing too hot. Training takes place barefoot so you will not need footwear. You will see existing members training in a Gi (white karate suit) however there is no requirement to have one of these until your first grading. When you are ready for a gi your sensei can source one for you if required.
Do I need to book?
We welcome everyone and love meeting new people however it is best to let us know that you are coming so we can determine the right class for you. Class places are limited to ensure quality of teaching.

My child lacks concentration, is Karate really a good idea?
Yes! As a parent you may worry that your child will not cope with the demand for discipline in lessons, however more often the opposite is true. Children are rewarded in lessons for good behaviour using positive reinforcement, and we have a range of proven strategies for children who require additional support.
What is Grading?
Grading is organised much like an exam; children will perform in small groups in front of a grading panel, and will be asked to show different moves in line with their ability. On completion, children are awarded the appropriate belt. There is no requirement for anyone to grade however we find that as well as enjoying it, grading also builds confidence and motivates children as well as giving them an opportunity to showcase their skill.
How do I pay?
Payment is by cash, cheque or bank transfer.
